Review P&IDs, PFDs, and vendor documents, prepare and check equipment and nozzle orientation, and have knowledge of relevant codes and standards

Sp3d designer
An SP3D piping designer’s job description may include:
Design and construction: Supporting the design and construction of industrial, manufacturing, and office facilities
Pipe stress calculations: Performing, checking, and supervising pipe stress calculations
3D models: Producing 3D models and AutoCAD drawings
Piping isometrics: Generating piping isometrics
Layouts: Ensuring layouts are safe and practical
Engineering challenges: Solving engineering challenges
Routing: Routing pipe, cable, ducting, and supports
Engineering packages: Integrating engineering packages
Clash reports: Identifying and solving clash reports
AutoCAD: Converting extracted drawings to AutoCAD
Coordination: Coordinating with other disciplines
Deliverables: Plot plans, piping layouts, equipment layouts, and isometrics

Tekla designer
A Tekla modeler’s job description may include:
Creating models and drawings: Developing complete models and drawings for clients, including GA drawings, BoM, and shop drawings
Collaborating with others: Working with architects, engineers, and fabricators to gather information for projects
Reviewing drawings: Ensuring drawings comply with codes and standards, and working with detailers to ensure accurate fabrication drawings
Conducting quality checks: Verifying the accuracy and completeness of deliverables
Preparing project documentation: Communicating project status and potential risks
Managing projects: Completing projects within target dates, and guiding junior modelers
Having knowledge of: Secondary steel detailing, client drawings, structure geometry, model management, revision controls, and other trades
Tekla modelers should be able to work in a self-directed manner, and be a team player. They should also have knowledge of automation programs, lisp, and macros.
